The Heritage Society announces three events in 2010.

The 12th Secret Gardens of Strasburg Tour, will take place on Saturday, June 26, from 9am to 4pm and on Sunday, June 27, from noon to 4pm.

***Tickets*** may be purchased at several local businesses beginning May 24th. A ticket may be used on both days of the tour. Seven private gardens are on the tour this year including four truly secret gardens behind four nineteenth century homes in the historic district.

Tickets purchased in advance will be $10. On the day of the tour the price will be $12. Advance tickets can be purchased at The Finishing Touch, Merenda Zug, Petals and Beans and the Springerle House, all on East Main Street at the Strasburg center square. Tickets are also available at the Strasburg Weekly News office, 140 W. Main Street, as well as Eldreth Pottery on North Decatur Street.

Tickets may also be ordered by mailing a check for $10 each ticket to the Strasburg Heritage Society. Mail orders must be received by Friday, June 25 and the tickets will be held at the Shroy House, 122 S. Decatur St., for pickup.

Tickets will also be sold at the Shroy House on the days of the tour.

On the first Saturday after Labor Day, September 11th, Strasburg Heritage Day is celebrated with our 39th annual antique and craft fair.

On Saturday, December 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the first time ever, the Society will sponsor a Holiday Tour Of Homes. Ten homes, most of them in the historic district, will be decorated for the season.

The Heritage Museum

With much regret, the Society has found that it is unable to continue to operate the Heritage Center Museum for public visits. We continue to see adequate funding to permit the museum to be open. In the meantime, work continues on researching and restoring the circa 1790 "Shroy House", at 122 South Decatur Street, the first historic property purchased by the Society. On the days of our special events listed above and on Saturdays you can see the clues to life in the 18th and 19th centuries that have been uncovered by architectural history detectives. When restoration is completed, this building will be our museum, housing the many antiques, artifacts and documents that the society has acquired.

The Heritage Society provides educational programs during the Fall and Winter Months.
